Supporting Those Who Serve

Capella Edina signs the Armed Forces Covenant

Director of Music Luis Schmidt with Lt Col Lee Curson

Capella Edina proudly announces the signing of the Armed Forces Covenant.

On 26th March, Director of Music Luis Schmidt attended a breakfast event, kindly hosted by the Trump Turnberry Hotel, Ayrshire, to celebrate some of the organisations that support our armed forces. Standing shoulder to shoulder with 17 other Lowland organisations, Capella Edina was presented with their Armed Forces Covenant certificate by Lieutenant Colonel Lee Curson, commanding officer of 6 SCOTS (The Royal Regiment of Scotland).

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.

From an early age on, I have always admired the work our armed forces do. Even though I did not join the regular service, it is close to my heart to support those who serve our country.”

Luis Schmidt, Director of Music & Chairman (Capella Edina)

Luis adds: “From an early age on, I have always admired the work our armed forces do. In fact, I would have never ended up in music if it had not been for Trooping the Colour, which led to my wish to join the Army as a musician. Even though I did not join the regular service, it is close to my heart to support those who serve our country.”

Capella Edina actively tries to promote the work our armed forces do for the UK and we want to support serving personnel, service leavers, and veterans with employment opportunities throughout our organisation.

If you are a(n) (ex-)military musician currently looking for employment, please get in touch and we would be delighted to help you.
